Kibaale Resident District Commissioner-RDC, Godwin Angalia Kasigwa has called on the contractors of roads under maintenance not to mess up with the tax payers’ money but implement whatever was agreed upon in the signed bills of quantities-BOQs.

Angalia made the call last evening during the commencement of roads inspections to assess the progress of ongoing works on the recent 5 roads whose construction works worth over 2.7 billion shillings was launched by Finance Minister Matia Kasaija recently in Kibaale district.

The exercise was also attended by Kibaale District leaders and technocrats who first held a site meeting on extended periodic maintenance of Kaisekenkere- Kajuma- Wantema- Kasenyi- Kayanja 17.5KM at Kasozi village in Kayanja Sub County.

The works there, is being undertaken by M/S TRACEMARK (U) LTD at a tune of over 626.3M for a period of 6 months.

The stakeholder later proceeded to inspect the 13km Kitoma- Kakindo- Rusandara- Mitujju road in Nyamarwa Sub County being undertaken by M/S AZU Properties at a tune of over 619.5 million shillings for a period of 6 months. 

However, it was yesterday observed that there is extra 3.5km onto the 14km road being shown in the initially signed bills of quantities.

RDC Angalia warns that such incident will create Collison and that the contractors must not sign bills of quantities before conducting an inspection on the projects they intend to implement.

During the inspection, John Katotoroma the CAO Kibaale however expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of the ongoing road works so far exhibited.

In his remarks, Godfrey Muwonge Kasanga the Kibaale district LCV chairperson encouraged residents to own these roads upon their completion because they are community access roads, which calls for them to maintain them through community development works-CDs.

Bruno Niwagaba the site agent from M/S TRACEMARK says the works on Kaisekenkere- Kajuma- Wantema- Kasenyi- Kayanja road is at 36% whereas Livingstone Nishaba an engineer from M/S AZU Properties LTD says works on Kitoma-Kakindo-Rusandara-Mitujju road is now at 35%.

Residents however asked the contractor to construct access paths branching to their houses, proper drainages among others.
