Mandate

Section 37 Sub-sections 1 and 2 of the Local Governments Act, CAP 243 provides for establishment of the District Planning Unit. This is the department of the district council responsible for economic planning. It is also the secretariat of the district technical planning committee.

The Department is further charged with;

Monitoring and evaluation of the district development plans, projects and programs. They produce periodical statistical reports including the annual statistical abstract. They collect, analyze and store data related for the planning process. They coordinate population activities in the district among other functions.
