Minister Kasaija launches over 1.1 billion Rukindo solar powered water supply system
Hon. Matia Kasaija the Minister for Finance Planning and Economic Development has today launched the construction of Rukindo water supply system in Kibaale Town Council, Kibaale district at a tune of over 1.1 billion shillings.
Minister Kasaija who doubles as area MP Buyanja Constituency officiated the launch in Rukindo cell accompanied by Woman MP Noeline Kisembo Basemera, Kibaale district chairperson Godfrey Muwonge Kasanga, Deputy RDC Caroline Kashaija Muyambi, CAO John Katotoroma among other dignitaries.
Giving a scope of work, Margret Namagera from Nexus Green who have contracted the construction works says the project is design supply and installation of solar powered water supply in Rukindo cell at a tune of 1.1 billion shillings. Namagera says they are going to establish a water reservoir with the capacity 108,000 liters, production well has the capacity of 14,000 liters per hour with an estimated duration of 4-6 months and when completed it will benefit more villages including Rukindo, Bamusuta, Kibingo and Kirangwa stressing out that the contractor will set up 2 public stand posts and it will be the work of Mid-Western Umbrella to do the distribution to households.
While launching the project, Minister Kasaija re-echoed on his commitments of improving on road network, electricity distribution, schools as well as providing clean water to his electorates. Minister Kasaija says the launched water supply system is big hoping in future they will extend up to Kahyoro appealing to locals to take care of the given water and avoiding wasting it more especially children congratulating locals for the milestone achieved since water is life.
In her remarks, MP Noeline Kisembo Basemera thanked residents of Rukindo who complained about the design that was made before of installing a water reservoir at Bujuni which was worked on and changed to Rukindo which is a suitable place urging the contractors to do quality work.
In an interview with delighted residents have hailed Minister Kasaija and other political leaders for fulfilling a long awaited water supply in their area hopeful that when completed it will overcome challenges of water shortage.
The launch was also graced by, Amon Rwakiza who represented the Ministry of Water and Environment, Episcopal Vicar Kibaale Vicariate Msgr John Mary Kitone Kabyanga, NRM Chairperson Kibaale Fred Matovu, Andrew Byaruhanga Semakula who represented Dr Emely Kugonza MP Buyanja East among others.
