PRIORITIZE ISSUES OF NON-COMPLIANCE IN THE DISTRICT

Hon Minister Jennifer Kacha Namuyangu, the Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs cautioned both the political and technical staff in the district to prioritize issues of non-compliance in the district that are leading to poor service delivery.

She made the remarks during the one day Community Based Monitoring forum-Baraza, organised by Office of the RDC in conjunction with Office of Prime Minister-OPM in Kibaale District. The Government initiated Baraza Programme as means of enabling the local community members to hold Government leaders accountable for resources spent on public programmes in their areas.

The Hon. Minister said the Baraza was not meant to witch hunt the duty bearers but rather improve service delivery in the respective Lower Governments and OPM will follow up on the issues that are brought up and need polishing. The function that as graced by dignitaries heard from the Minister that compliance will be called for, when a team from the different ministries visits the district to support. She further hailed Kibaale for coming up number 12 in recent OPM National assessment and said she looks forward to the district’s improvement in the coming same assessment.

RDC Kibaale Angalia Godwin called upon sub County leaders to come up with similar forum in their sub counties and informed the forum that irrespective of hearsay threats of the rebels presence in the district, the district was safe and security is doing its role to ensure there is safety. Angalia asked the Minister to push for the opening of Kagombe Forest Reserve boundaries to create harmony amongst the residents who leave in fear of eviction and victimization.

The district Chairperson Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga requested PDM focal person and Parish Chiefs to continue supervising PDM beneficiaries to ensure government resources are put to proper use.

John Katotoroma the Chief Administrative Officer Kibaale hailed the NRM government for the enthusiasm they have exhibited during its visionary approach while leading the country to sustainable development.
