MOTHER OF SIX WINS 3,000 METER RACE IN KIBAALE

With a record time of 00:08:48 Agnes Nabukenya managed to complete the 3,000 meter race during the Independent Kibaale Marathon that was organized by Kibaale District (Education Department) with aim of bringing the communities together to identify and enhance the raw talents in Kibaale.
In her remarks Agnes said “I am a widow and a mother of six, I have gone under the knife for caesarean section on three occasions but am happy I have competed and won”.
Seth Ahebwa the Senior Education Officer representing the District Education Officer said that the marathon has been the first of its kind in the district. He said previously the District has been organizing games for primary schools but this time found it right to organize competitions for persons from different communities within the district to participate, compete and win. He further called urged the residents of Kibaale to continue participating in sports activities to keep their bodies healthy.
The District Sports Officer Janet Kyalisiima hailed the participants who came from all sub counties in the district for exhibiting sportsmanship and coming to compete in the historical event in the district. She said such events are good for networking alongside helping those who engage in sports to live healthy lives. She said other events of this kind will be organized to ensure talents are enhanced.
Bategeka Gerald the District Vice Chairperson thanked the District for organizing the historical event re-emphasizing that it is the first of its kind. Bategeka expressed his concern about the dying talents as a cause of limited arenas to showcase the different abilities of the sports loving persons. He pledged to engage his fellow leaders to increase the budget for sports in the district.
The Vice Chairperson however tasked the residents to be vigilant security wise since there are growing threats of terrorism in the Country. He tasked them to work with the security personnel and leaders in-case of any threat.
