Kibaale district ranked 62nd position for HIV prevalence and ART coverage across the country
Kibaale district local government has been ranked 62nd position for HIV prevalence rate and antiretroviral therapy-ART across the 146 districts for the year 2022.
According to the report released shows that Kibaale district has the HIV prevalence rate currently stands at 5.2% which is higher compared to the national prevalence rate of 5.1% with the total number of 4,404 people currently enrolled on antiretroviral therapy-ART. Report shows that ART coverage from 15 years and above stands at 76% which is lower compared to the national ART coverage which is at 85.2%.
For Bunyoro Sub region, Hoima city ranked in 33rd position followed by Masindi in the 36th position and then Kibaale district plus other district. However, Kagadi district is ranked in 77th position with a prevalence rate of 4.3% and 88% ART coverage, Kakumiro district ranked in 89th position with 3.6% prevalence rate and 82% ART coverage.
This shows that for Bunyoro Sub region, Kibaale district is in 3rd position but for Kibaale the greater, Kibaale district is in the 1st position which shows that HIV/ AIDS is at high rate in the district. Kenneth Kutesa a Health worker at Kibaale health center IV has urged the general public to be vigilant and avoid incidences that can cause someone to be affected with the deadly disease.
