Aiming at improving the quality of life of women, men, PWDs, youth out of school and children in school by 2024 the Project dubbed Gender and Women Development Program is valued at over Ugx 1.4 billion and is funded by Misereor from Germany.

While presenting before the different stakeholders from the District and Sub Counties Beatrice an Official from the Hoima Diocese founded Organization HOCADEO said that the Project will be implemented in the Sub Counties of Kabasekende, Kyakazihire and Bubango in 32 villages. She further said that the project starts in 2022 to 2024 and if implemented well there might be chance to work in the remaining villages in these Sub Counties in the next phase.

Beatrice said the project specific objectives are;Social justice in 1,045 households in the 32 villages is improved by 2024, income levels of 2,488 people is improved by 2024, hygiene, health and sanitation in 1,045 households is improved by 2024, improve on the program sustainability, networking and organization development by 2024.
And in her closing remarks she called upon all stakeholders to offer support when need arises.

Habib Abubakar who chaired the meeting implored Hoima Catholic Diocese for involving themselves in the development of the people in Kibaale and welcomed the project saying it’s in line with the district development plan that highly considers the gender and women discrepancies. He said the project should help families and households to start bringing resources together for common development.
Habib tasked HOCADEO to help men understand and embrace the project and challenged all stakeholders to come on board and help in implementing the project objective as he pledged full support from the district leadership.

Kibaale District Chairperson Godfrey Muhonge Kasanga who launched the project tasked the District staff to help the community embrace and own the program if it is to benefit them. He praised HOCADEO for bringing the PWDs on board citing most of the time they are left out in such projects. He also advised the District to integrate the GENDER AND WOMEN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM budget into the district budget to cause harmony in implementation and to avoid double budgeting.
