Hon. Minister for Finance Planning and Economic Development Matia Kasaija who doubles as area MP Buyanja Constituency in Kibaale District has once again reassured the residents of Kibaale District on his commitments of safe water supply, power extension and clear road network.

He made the remarks during the launching of the extension of the 10km pipeline water system to 3 villages of Mugarama, Kyakanyonyi and Nyaburungi in Mugarama Sub County, Kibaale district by Mid-Western Umbrella of Water and Sanitation, where he urged the locals to own the project so that they reap the fruits of the project. 

The function that was held at Mugarama Sub County headquarters today saw a number of stakeholders attend and they heard that the extension is being connected from Nyamarunda Water Supply System.

Samson Mwebesa the area manager Kibaale district says Nyamarunda water supply system has 450 connections from 14 villages with 2,700 beneficiaries and that with the addition of more 3 villages there will be more addition of 1,000 beneficiaries and assured residents that within 2 months the extension will be done.

Gilbert Byamugisha the regional manager umbrella of water and sanitation Midwest says they are operating 20 schemes under Bunyoro cluster comprising of Hoima, Kibaale, Kagadi and Kikuube and that they are planning to implement the extensions to unserved areas in water supply systems of Kibaale, Kyakatwanga and Nyamarwa at subsidized rates.

"Wetlands are key to our eco-existance", RDC Kibaale Godwin Angalia Kasigwa reminded the locals. The Presidential directive on wetlands will be implemented he further assured the residents, as he called for more water system extensions in other places since community members require this water for various activites iincluding farming.

The widly smiling residents who were present joyfully expressed themsleves by hailing Minister Kasaija for fulfilling his pledges of ensuring safe water supply reaches Mugarama Sub County noting that Mugarama Sub County was affected by the inadequate water sources due to the stone quarrying by Chinese whhile constructing Mubende- Kibaale- Kagadi road.
